just replaced my impellars on my 454's, used the run dry globe impellars,
noticed my engines running about 8 degrees hotter than normal. normal
they run about 170 if up on plane, now running about 178. anyone else
used these impellars? had any problems?
should i worry about the little increase in temp?
if i run around 2000 rpm they run same temp as always.
thanks

We got a pair a long while ago. Installed them when a heating issue developed. Removed them the following week (oil coolers were clogged).

A couple years later, when doing the annual restock on the 'parts chest', I opened their boxes and found the impellers had deteriorated. I doubt there was any solvent issue (parts chest is in the main cabin) and suspect it was heat induced. (June and july's sun can really heat up the cabin in the late afternoon.) The 'extra' (used) regular rubber impellers, right next to the globe ones, didn't suffer the same fate. I haven't felt compelled to replace the globe parts since.
