Its easy getting one out it is far more difficult to get it back in and in correctly!!

If you have never done one before you best ask how and what is needed and needed to know first before you tackle a job like this.

With the right tools and knowledge it is a ~1/2 hour job including removal and installation of the outdrive.

"Joe

You need a three jaw adjustable (tapered) adjusting nut puller, attached to a slide hammer. AND YES YOU CAN BUY AUTOMOTIVE (SNAP ON ) Then you need to alline the grease hole in the new bearing at 4:00 oclock and drive the new bearing back in all the way until it is seated.

I have made a special "hammer" for the slide hammer that wieghs at least 10 lbs and the bearing pops out in no more than 2 pulls, I also made a special bearing driver $250.00 (I did not have access to a machine shop at that time so I had to pay someone else to make it) that I use a 3 lb short sledge hammer to drive the new bearing back inplace.

Good luck"

"Advance Auto parts rents a puller kit that includes a Rear Axle Bearing Puller Kit, has 2 of the 3 peices shown. Not sure the best place to buy them but this is the info.

The hide tilts to get it in the hole then the flanges hold onto the bearing, you can tighten the nut and flat washer to hold it on while hammering.

1. Slide Hammer complete assembly.
2. three jaw puller end of slide hammer
3. 10 lb plus hammer of slide hammer assembly (I made this out of steel.)
4. Bearing driver head (aluminium)
5. bearing driver tool (~ 24 inches long)
6. Aligment tool ( merc part)
