finishing up a long block rebu

finishing up a long block rebuild on a 318. What is the procedure to set up a 1409 edelbrock carb with a vacuum gage. Do you have to do the vacuum modification to the 1409? thanks for all your help this forum has been key!!!

If you're talking about idle adjustment, then you need a vacuum source that is NOT in the PCV circuit.

The carb needs to be drilled and tapped for an 1/8" NPT fitting for the PCV hose (usually 3/8 ID). Use a 5/16 drill bit to make the from hole, then a smaller one up from the bottom to join the two holes. Then tap the from hole to 1/8 " NPT.

I have easy access to a vacuum

I have easy access to a vacuum port. do i adjust idle screw until i see the highest value on the vacuum gage? can i switch from rn12yc champion copper core plugs to rn14yc?
