Gearcase for DT 65 compatability

I am new to this forum and just got into a new project and was looking for a little guidance.
I have a 1987 DT 65 and need a new Gearcase for it.
I found a used one off of a 1988 dt55 and wanted to make sure that it fit before purchasing, I checked the Parts list schematics and compared them, They look almost identical however there are a few added parts to the 1988 model. Also on the website if you order the new gear case for the 1987 and 1988 it is the same part number that you order, so I was just wondering if you all had an opinion of weather you think it would work or if I should look for a 1987 Gear case. Thank you in advance for you input.

"Let me start by saying I don't own a DT55 or DT65 but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Seriously, my input may be usless.

I did about 5 minutes of research on the Browns Point site. The core units use the same part number 55100-95330. I would suggest printing out the parts break down and going over each part. Also, look at pictures of the sellers unit or in person compaired with yours would be ideal (duh, right, everyone knows that).

Something must be different because the DT65 unit changed after '87 and the DT55 unit was from '88 on. Good luck."
