Gear shift lever

I am trying to remove broken gear shift handle for Johnson 6hp DT4 outboard. I can't see how to remove lever from outboard. It looks like a ball with a smooth bore hole in centre holding base of handle against washer and outboard. Can anyone assist?

Perhaps a " JOHNSUKI ?---4 stroke from 2004 or so !---Model # must be posted.

Regardless.... Remove the powerhead. If the shift shaft is frozen, have a hand held propane torch handy.
