Gear oil 1992 25 hp

Just changed the gear oil for the first time on the 1992 25HP engine I bought last year. I filled the gear case with 90 wt marine gear oil (Quicksilver) until oil started running out the top port, but I noticed that it only took about 8 or so ounces. I let it drain initially for several hours, but I'm still wondering if I got all the old oil out.

Any insight here would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds about right to me, seeing as they sell gear oil in 8oz tubes

It's capacity is 8.8oz - check out the specs...
