" I found out from a previous post that I have a 1974 25hp Evinrude outboard. What does it take in the lower gear area....gear grease or oil? It didn't come with an owner's manual. Many thanks. Also, I found one plug so far on the lower right side (if facing the back of motor). Do I open this plug and fill until it comes to the top of filler hole? "

"The lower unit on that model requires what is called "HiVis" (80/90w). It's available at Wal*Mart and K-Mart at a reasonable price. I believe the manufactuer is LubeMatic (<-sp).

I have 1 ea, Johnson KA-10 and KD-15, 9.8 outboard. I have always used marine gear grease in them. I cannot locate a source for the grease anymore. Do anyone have a source?
