I am re-building my Evinrude 1977 70HP. Should I use sealants (line permatex hi temp silicone gasket) with the new gaskets when assembling the exhaust manifolds and fixing the powerheaed to the mid-section? The cylinder head gasket does not say "do no use sealents" (it is a victory marine item).

Thanks

Should I use this on the head gasket as well (I guess not on the netal rings that seal the cylinders!)- no markings on the gasket.
Thanks for your advice"

Use it on all gaskets except intake and carb gaskets. Even use it on all bolt threads except crank case bolts.

Richard if the head gasket was between two sheets of plastic and feels slightly sticky dont put gasket cement on it. but if the gasket is dry you can apply gasket sealer to it.

Apply gasket sealer to the bolts...you never know it may be you pulling it apart later down the track?.

On the head bolts the torque was dry so if you apply sealer to the shank and down about 3/8 of an inch this will seal the bolts from water egression through the head gasket.
