"Hey, I've got the Mariner 150 rebuilt on an 1985 boat. I need to get the serial number off the engine to try an find out the year. I've been reading various responses which state using an 86 octane fuel or higher but NOT a 93 rating? Is this a concern for this engine also?

"Angelo, unless it's a Pro Max or Super Magnum model, Merc only calls for regular unleaded.

The additives that they use to boost the octane to 93 can harm engines not designed to run it..."
