Gas in Oil

Aloha from Hawaii. I am having a problem with my twin DF70 outboards. One is a 1999 model with 800 hrs, and the other is a 2001 with 700 hrs. Both motors start up and run flawlessly. Props are sized right. Compression seems good. I troll at about 7 to 8 knots, but often go faster or slower. Sometimes, I stay at idle or very slow speeds for extended periods (baiting for fish, or swim escorts, etc.) Plus, going slow increases my gas mileage.

My oil is getting significant amounts of gas contaminating it.

My mechanic friend suggested replacing my diaphrams on my low pressure fuel pumps. I did that, as well as the the "O" rings, but problem persists. He then said that if the needle valve and/or seat is worn, it may cause the high pressure fuel pump to lose pressure, causing gas to run when the motors are shut off. He suggested rigging up a pressure gauge to check the pressure to verify if this is the problem. This is a little too much for me. Does anywone know of others ways to find the problem, other than opening up my wallet at the local dealer.

I read the FAQ about "Making Oil", but I seem to be "making oil" with gas, not water

Thanks.

"Thanks for the quick come back. What are t- stats? Is there any way around this problem, other than to change the oil every time out?
