I have a 1988 Mercury 6 cyl. 1

I have a 1988 Mercury 6 cyl. 115 Horse.I have a see thru gas filter at idle speed filter stays 1/4 full but when it is put in gear it empty's out. Is this normal?

Sometimes when I throttle up f

Sometimes when I throttle up fast it dogs out.It seems like it is starving for gas. It doe's not do it all the time.
