"After you get the tank out of the boat, and get all gas out you can. I cleaned my plastic tank with Purple Power and a hot water pressure washer (steam cleaner). Then I let it sit in the sun a couple days to dry out. Cleaned it like a new one

. I had read somewhere a guy had a stainless steel tank and cleaned it with acetone. That was the reason I cleaned mine like I did because I thought the acetone would destroy my plastic tank. Good Luck

Galvanized tank sounds like tr

Galvanized tank sounds like trouble if there is any rust in it i would consider replacing it its not breaking down at sea cos of rust in the carb (i know from experience) i would consider getting a plastic or stainless tank.
