"Heibs....Your friend is correct, the Gale engine is an offspring (so to speak) of the OMC outboard line. Look for a plate on the engine that contains the model and serial number. Get back to us with the "Model" number. Someone here can then tell you exactly what your engine is.

I have a 1975 135 hp johnson engine that has been stred for 10 years in an unheated garage in pennsylvania. Is it possible that it would not take too much to get it up and running or would the cost be prohibitive.

"Bill... If the engine will turn over, has compression, and the lower unit has lube, and with the s/plugs out and cranking over, you have spark, you will need to remove, clean, and rebuilt the carburetors at least. Be sure to thoroughly clean the brass fixed high speed jets that are in the extreme lower section of the float chambers. That may very well be all that you'll have to do (rebuilding the carbs), but there may be hidden problems that won't arise until you get the engine running. However, rebuilding the carbs would be a worthwhile effort.

Note that you have entered your question under someone elses topic relating to a Gale engine. Look to the left of this page and you'll see a link under "Discussion board" entitled "Topics". Click on "Topics", then when the next page appears click on "Outboards". When the outboard message section appears, go to the extreme bottom of that page. You'll see a large button entitled "Start New Conversation" (or something of that nature)..... click on that button to start your own thread. I just happened to see your question but as it stands, it would have been easy to miss.
