I picked up a 5hp Gale Buccaneer at an auction for $25. After the new spark plugs, the power head fired right off. Then once in the water in forward I had the familiar sound and feel of “hitting a log”. No, I did not hit a log, but I know that is typically the clutch dog slipping out of gear. I have taken the lower unit apart and have discovered the clutch dog and f & r gears are all in real good shape. However the U-shaped (Lever shifter…I think this is the technical name) is wore down. The typical nice rounded top or tips have been ground to a sharp point.
I am trying to locate a part number to attempt to locate a replacement part. However the online resources for Gale motors are few and far between. Can anyone assist in finding the part number? Here are the specs
Gale
Buccaneer
Year: Unknown
Model #: 5D20B (That is a zero not the letter O)
5HP
Any help would be great. Thanks, Jeremy
