Engine: 7.4GiPLKDCE in 1997 Pursuit 2460 that is approx. 5500lbs dry. Running F5 prop. While backing out of my slip (at idle) I backed into shallow mud (and who knows what else) from a recent dredging in our marina. Seemed to bounce the prop/drive a few times and pulled into slip.
When I took it for a ride I now have 800-900+ additional RPM at my cruising speed. What used to be 30mph at 3000rpm is now more like 28mph at 3700rpm! Assuming props were bent and could see some small bends but took the prop to my prop guy who scanned it and said it was in spec. Very confused to what could be at work here. I'm understanding that DP-S with F5 props have no bearing to spin.
Ran boat over weekend on 2-3ft waves and it never slipped or hesitated in anyway but I do believe the tach (fairly new) is accurate as the RPM do feel up as indicated. Also worth noting that I used to idle (in gear) at 600rpm but now I'm idling (in gear) at 1000rpm. no vibration at any speed, smooth as butter.
When I turn the props they counter rotate as one would expect. Nothing feels binding or incorrect. Nothing smoking, nothing smelling like burning rubber while running. It's just like I lost some pitch somehow!
What should I consider on this head scratcher?
Again, no bearing to spin?
Doesn't sound like a bad coupler?
Should I be checking tach against one of those old school that attaches to plug wires?
