Hello,
I am new to this site, anyway I just purchased a 1972 9.8.2 cyl merc that apparently was in dry storage most o fit's life.It looks brand new, even the insulation and vinyl inside cover is like new. What is the proper fuel mix for the engine?and does anyone have any tips or pointers of what to check before starting it.Also any opinions on these engines...good ? bad?
I looked up the serial # 3263926 and with the 110 on the cover it looks like it is a 1972?
Thanks,Ron Indian Lk,NY

I wasn't sure being a 1972 year if the mix would be more like 32:1-do you have any recommendations for a parts source for the impeller?
I haven't worked on one of these boat eng before...any tips?
Thanks,Ron

Any good Mercury dealer will have it in stock.-----Many dealers for other brands will have that in stock.-----------Takes a 1/2" socket for one nut above the prop and a 9/16" open end wrench for the nut at the front.---Rest of the pump work is easy.
