Fuel tank mounting requirements

I want to install a larger fue

I want to install a larger fuel tank. I currently have tank mounted in the stern of the boat under the deck. I want to double the length of the tank but if I do that it will run over the top of the wet exhaust hoses. I'm wondering if this is the wrong thing to do. Is there a place I can go look for the requirements?

I'd be more concerned withthe added weight back there and its effect on trim.
