Fuel swap difficulty

I have a 5.5 hp Johnson I bought online and I’m trying to swap it to a single line but I can’t seem to get the fuel pump to work without flooding the carb is there something I can do to reduce the power or somewhere I can find a weak enough fuel pump to make it work?

What fuel pump and how is it hooked up ?-----Any pictures?----Have you inspected float and float valve?----Hooked it up to " pulse " on the air hose that went to the pressure tank?
