I just bought a 1990 9.9hp Evinrude. When i bought it a month ago, it was running except it was bogging down at high speed and stalling. It got to the point where I couldn’t get it started. I had it serviced by a large boat facility in my area. A carb clean, gear oil, new gas squeeze bulb, fresh fuel, a compression check, and spark plugs. When I left the dealer, it was running fine. The next day, I started it in my driveway with no problems. I took it to the lake 1 hour later and it wouldn’t start. I continue to have starting problems. This is an electric start engine. The starter is fine, batteries are charged and it sounds like the engine is starving for fuel. Today I pulled it out of the garage and it started right up and it ran without issue.
Could this be an intermittent fuel pump problem? The fuel pump on this unit is extremely difficult to remove. Looking for any advice. Thanks
