Hello - I have a 1980 4.5 hp evinrude (E5RLCSS) with an internal tank that needs a new fuel pump. The fuel pump that it calls for is # 388685 which I can find for around $80. Does anyone know if the fuel pump made by Sierra 18-7350 (around $40) would work for this motor? I really hate to pay $80 for a pump. Thanks

How long has it been since you used the motor last? the reason I ask is that the diaphrams can dry out and then they become very stiff if they have been setting dry for some time.

The issue will be whether or not it will fit in the space provided. Also when mounted it can not bind up on cowling. I use it's cousin the 18-7351 on 18HP Johnson motors with no problem.

The float regulates the fuel level in the bowl. I can't see why it would work for you.

Fuel pump 388685 is rated for 4HP up to a 25hp motor. That being the case the 18-7350 will work fine as it is rated for 6HP up to 15HP. No big deal there.
