5.8 Cobra V-8. Fuel pump squir

5.8 Cobra V-8. Fuel pump squirts fuel from the small rubber hose that runs from the bottom of the fuel pump up into the top of the holley 4-BBL carb. What is the small fuel hose for and is it normal to pulse gas into the top of the carb while at idle?
 
Most likely a broken membrane

Most likely a broken membrane in the fuel pump. The hose is there to prevent the fuel from going into the oil and in worst case blow up the engine!
Change the fuel pump.

See OMC fuel pumps but if you post the model number of the engine I will look up the OEM part number."

This might be a tough one looked high & low for one a couple of months back. Even called sierra to see if they had one. Never could find one.
 
may need to install a block of

may need to install a block off plate for the old pump and install an electric. if you do i would also install a pressure regulator and also put the fuel pump on a relay with an oil pressure switch.

"be sure its marine and not automotive, you need the nipple on the bleed hole. thats where your little hose hooks to, its not on an automotive pump. reason is so when it fails it doenst fill your bilge with fuel."
