fuel pump question

Just a question here, I removed my bad vro pump from a 89 70hp evinrude and replaced it with a regular fuel pump (3ports) will this work or not I seem to be having some running issues and was wondering if that might be the problem?

For some reason many folks pick on the carburetors and fuel pump as the first steps in trouble shooting.-----Your best bet is to do a compression test on that motor.----Then check spark to see if it will jump a gap of 7/16" on all 3.

I have found that the fuel system is usually not the problem. Most were electrical problems when the engine finally runs as good as can be expected.

I do not include accepting someone elses old used gasoline several years old as a fuel problem. OR Finding a old 6 gallon tank floating & filling it up & having running problems.

Yes. People do things like that every day. Then spend lots of time & money on parts.
