Fuel pump on Chrysler 360

I need to find the right part to order for my OMC 260 / Chrysler 360 to replace the (probably original from 1977) fuel pumps.

I tried once and got totally the wrong thing. It fit the gasket/mount footprint but the lever was much too long and wrong angle.

I'm fairly novice at engine mechanics, but I think I can handle this pump replacement if I can find the right part!

For some reason I can't upload photos successfully here, but I have some photos here:

I'm going in circles trying to find the right pump, and it doesn't help that apparently the body of the modern ones is so different! Anyone have knowledge here?

Do you have a model number for your OMC engine?

if not, a picture would help to ID it...one taken from above and one taken of the front would go a long way...

Looking at the pics, it looks more like a SBC pump than a Chrysler pump...

It's an OMC 260 according to stamps on it.

I just looked again at the fuel pump and the only markings on it are AC MADE IN USA and 40991. ChatGPT tells me that means it's a Carter made fuel pump, if that is to be trusted :/

looks like the engine has been modified...

Where did 'Chrysler 360' originate? the video suggests Chevy small block much more than a chrysler...

I think you're right. Chrysler 360 is what I recall the previous owner telling me, but I probably remembered wrong. The only clear indicators I can find are the OMC 260 labeling and GM2 3(or 8?)40234 stamped on the intake manifold.

I think the problem was when I searched OMC 260 and Chrysler 360 things came up that seemed to match, but now I see that Chevy matches up with 340234!

So I'm in the wrong forum here, I'll move on ...thank you!

Take a look at Sierra 18-7274...
You can use the part number search at the top of the page (on a computer).
