Fuel Pump on 1977 Evinrude 115

I am suspecting fuel pump issues on my motor. I disassembled the pump and verified everything looked good. I noticed what appears to be a fuel line underneath the fuel pump with a bolt plugging it off. Furthermore, the fuel pump is currently installed does not have the two ports on the pump that are shown on the part called out for the motor, 0438559. I am wondering if this is the problem with the engine running rough. I have ordered the correct fuel pump, but have been unable to find a plumbing diagram.
Help please!
 
If you have a three port pump blow on the hose that hoes to the cover nipple in the center where the air goes out that goes to the carbs and the other one goes to the pulse port on the bottom of the intake manifold. Where you can blow the air in comes from the fuel tank!
 
Does the pump mount directly over the pulse port on the intake manifold, yes or no ?-----If yes the there would only be 2 hoses going to the pump.----Fuel in and fuel out.
 
yes, it mounts directly over the pulse port.

Would installing an electric fuel pump bypassing the original be a good solution?
 
There is nothing wrong with the design of the pump.-----But there may be issues with the motor that prevents that pump from supplying the needed fuel----So post your results from a compression test.
 
I took it out this morning. It was very hard to start and only started after starter fluid was used. Stopped for 20 minutes. Same thing. Stopped for about an hour. Could not get it to start at all and batteries approaching exhaustion. Let it set another hour and then finally got started with starter fluid and manually opening throttle plates. Glad we didn't have to paddle all way. BTW, when cruising, it seems to run fine (some inconsistent missing). I have been all through the ignition system and find no problems. It sure seems like it is starved for fuel when starting and sometimes when idling.
 
Fuel pump only works when the engine is running. Has nothing to do with starting the motor. So, look for something more reasonable.
 
Get battery load tested.-----Take starter apart for inspection , and ohm test.----Inspect battery cables.-----If motor cranks too slow it simply will have no spark.-----Trouble shooting will get results.----Throwing parts at it may get expensive in a hurry.
