Fuel Pump issue ????

:confused:How can i find out if there's power to the fuel pump when i turn on the ignition? Should there be any indication IE: a hum / click/vibration? I cannot determine if it is actually "on"? Let me back up a little. had the engine running after we drained all fuel, changed filters, put in fresh fuel. It ran for a while then shut down. Could not start it again. Drained some fuel from the secondary filter only to find some residue in the jar again. Any responses to this post is greatly appreciated! Thanks Manatee

Is your bulb good as in getting hard building up pressure? I'm new to this as well but things I have done. Take off main line to inlet and make sure your getting fuel to pump

Thanks , I have fuel to the pump itself, I just don't know if the pump is getting power to it? That's why I was asking if there's any type of noise or hum that would indicate it was "on" (receiving power when ignition is on)

What model/size/horsepower is your motor? Most have a mechanical pump. Can you pull off the fuel line after the pump, and see if it's working as you crank it?

You need to post your engine model#. All carbureted motors use a pulse diaphragm pump. There is no click, whir, or buzz. If you have the primer bulb firm, there are no flow restrictions from the tank, and the pump is operating properly you will get fuel delivered.

However, if you have a new DI motor it's a completely different setup. So, posting your the model # of your engine is the only way we can know how to best direct responses.
