Fuel pump installation

I have a 1987 Crusader 270 in

I have a 1987 Crusader 270 in my Mainship which needs a fuel pump. I have removed the defective one. This motor uses a piston instead of a cam to operate the pump.I can not get the piston to move up so that I can get the pump arm under it. Any suggestions?

" its not a piston, its a pushrod that drive off a cam on the camshaft. Grease the pushrod and lift it. Place the fuel pump arm against it and click the engine over until the pushrod reaches the highest point(lowest point of the cam). Install the fuel pump. Dania Marine 1-800-748-7739
