Fuel Pump Conversion

I'm swapping the VRO fuel pump on m y 98 50SPL for a standard pump.

My question is there are three hose connections....the outer one is for the fuel inlet and one of the other to is for fuel output to the fuel manifold but what is the third connections for? Where does it go?

My service manual only shows connections for the VRO
Thanks...

The ideal pump for that is the one that bolts to the side of the block with a gasket.---It bolts directly over the pulse port.----It has 2 fittings , fuel in and fuel out.------The pump you have needs to use the pulse port where the VRO gets its pulse or adapt to use the pulse port from the side of the #1 cylinder.------You do not need the pulse limiter in the line !

Okay thanks thats what I thought the local repair shop said it will run off the crank pressure on the side of the engine, so I was confused....the shop ordered the parts and I think he ordered the one you described with only two ports. I was looking at the diagram online and it shows three ports.
