Fuel pump alternative

Hi everyone... I was wondering if you guys could help me with this situation I have. I have a 1989 Johnson 140hp looper(J140TXCEB). Awhile back the vro oil pump side broke down and was disengaged. Started premixing and just recently lost the fuel side. I saw on the maxrules.com site that the fuel pump 4-7359
Was the fuel only pump for my motor. I am still finding the price a bit steep for me. Would there be a cheaper alternative to this pump with enough psi for my motor? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Step # 1 is to take the pump apart for inspectiom.----------It might be an easy repair.----------But as always opinions will vary.

With the larger engines your looking for fuel flow not psi. You can buy a used pump and put in a kit and save some money. Just take the pulse limiter off and put in a straight brass nipple and keep the pulse tube as short as possible.

If your gonna premix just use 2 standard pumps for the volume necessary

This shows a 1980 150hp if your pulling from a in hull tank two pumps in series will keep the carbs full at high speeds.

The fuel side on your pump can be rebuilt. Why not do that?

Yeah, that's gonna suck in air. One of my pumps did a similar thing, it didn't crack but the piece the gas line attaches to fell out of the pump body. I switched over to a non vro pump from an older 115 cross flow motor.
