5.7gi engine cranks but wont start. checked the fuses and the 20amp fuse keeps blowing when I attempt to start. I replaced the fuse, it blows again. I disconnected the 2 electrical plugs, turned the engine over and the fuse doesnt blow.

So, this may sound obvious but is it time to replace the fuel pump?

Cragonese,

I just went through this same situation with a 5.8 MPI Ford Engine. Iam not sure if your engine has a relay on that same circuit.
I would first check the relay then the ignition switch first.

Also replacing the pumps is way more expensive than changing the relay.

I am not too familiar with the GM engine setup, however if it has a high pressure and low pressure pump and the two electrical plugs you disconnected are the fuel pump connections, I would think that its probably the pump/s going bad.

Replacing the fuel pumps is what fixed my problem, but I really had to eliminate all other possible problems first.
