Looks like I need a new fuel pump, no fuel at all coming out of it when cranking.
I haven't finished checking back to the tank yet for filter adn pick up but I did notice that the fuel pump is mounted with the bowl pointed up adn in the parts section it shows the bowl pointed down. Does this matter?
Everything ran great last time we ran it in Sep I think.

Oh one other question, the fuel line from the pump to the carb is is metal and twisted at one end. I don't see this part in the catalog though, can I use a regular fuel line?"

"Parts are available from this

"Parts are available from this site. Look above under "engine parts" and insert the PN. NAPA probably carries them. Install the pump the way it came off. You may have to turn the engine enough to get the cam lobe out of the way so the push rod slides in out of the way.

PN: 32-69145A1 FUEL LINE, PUMP TO CARB - STEEL

PN: 86234A4 FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY

PN: 27-34213 GASKET, FUEL PUMP"

"Merc 140 doesn't have a f

"Merc 140 doesn't have a fuel pump rod, and older Carter pumps had the fuel bowl on the bottom.

Fuel filter could be clogged or diaphram ruptured

Check valves inside the pump can also be stuck"
