"hi i recently bought an 85 gibson with twin 270's it was a repo my problem is the engines start and run at lower rpms great but when i get over 3 k rpms they start to sputter ive been told it was probably water in the tanks, the boat sat for a year or so what are the steps i should take in trouble shooting this problem thanks"

I know this is not directly re

I know this is not directly responsive to your question but the Gibson has a flush mounted deck fuel fitting that has an "O" ring that fits on the plug. This "O" ring gets brittle quickly. Change it to prevent rain water from flowing in. The reason I know is that I battled water for a year and blamed the marina gas for it. It turned out to be the "O" ring. No more water in the tank.
