Fuel Problem with '92 175

Hey all.. I have a question about mu motor, if anyone could offer assistance, I would be very greatful!

I have a '92 Evinrude 175hp V6 motor. She's old and has seen better days but she still does run - first time starting her up though for the season, new gas, filters, water separators... she runs for 5 minutes in idle and then appears to run out of gas. That's what it sound alike anyway. I would then have to pump the fuel primer bulb until it's hard again and she able to start up again.

I tried taking her out and opening her up, thinking maybe it's just bad fuel that needed to get blown out but in the middle of the lake in about a minutes time, "ran out of gas". Again, I primed the bulb, she started and i got back to the dock.
I then proceeded to check the fuel lines for kinks and what I did come across was that the fuel filter, at the housing was leaking some gas. I am not sure if this could be the issue, the serviceman said that it shouldn't be the issue -(the serviceman who won't work on my motor but will sit there an answer questions..)

So I wanted to hear if anyone might have some ideas or experience with this problem?

Thanks!

Tony D.

Easiest to correct the fuel leak first, then we'll go from there.

It's either a fuel/air leakage problem, OR a failed fuel pump, OR a broken pressure line between the pump and crankcase, OR a failed reed plate or blown piston both of which would affect crankcase pressure that normally operates the fuel pump.

Thanks, Joe - hopefully it's just that air leak - let me see if I can get this thing to stop leaking gas - not sure why it is and I'll get back. I can't get out there today since it's raining...

Hey, so, I fixed the leak and now the trouble went away!! Happy about that.. but of course the next issue arises! My bilge pump won't stop running. I had to disconnect the "auto" lead. I can still run it manually if I hit the switch but I guess the float is either stuck or just bad....

Thanks a lot guys!!
