"fuel pump (tested on twin

"fuel pump (tested on twin-good) , fuel lines, fuel bulb. good. no restrictions 2 the carbs. carbs fill w/fuel holds tight bulb but isn't delivering any fuel @ all. dry! .runs while spraying either but not on it's own. you can't even force fuel by squeezing the bulb.the owner said he went through the carbs & can't remember if he turned certain passages off.I went through everything 2 the carbs...good. not 2 formilurized w/ suzuki carbs. plus no sm. once fuel enters the carbs & fills them thats it no delivery like all the needles r in the perminent closed position. he also said he overreved it, herd a pop do u think he may have broke a/some reed valves. I kinda think it has 2 do w/a vacume/pressure thing in the carbs not allowing the release of the float. nice guy like 2 help him out. thanks barefoot51"

"First off all, stop spraying

"First off all, stop spraying ether into the motor !!! You will ruin the piston because of lack of lubrication. Only spray in premix !!! Next, it is very unclear what you are talking about, seems a lot like gibberish !! What do you mean turning several passages off ??? Are you saying that the plugs on all cylinders are dry, even after choking it ??? It certainly could be a reed valve problem, but also could be a hole in the piston. Did you test the compression ??? That would be the first step before anyone can give you any real advice.

Hint: Take your time and explain more clearly with sentences and punctuation. Unless English is your second language, you did a poor job of explaning your problem !!!"

"Hi James

What you describe

"Hi James

What you describe really sounds like dirty carbs. If it runs on ether, induction/compression/spark are not the main problem
The advice already given regarding using premix is important. I think if you disassemble the carbs, clean out with carb cleaner and compressed air and verify that the venturi is clear by sprayying carb cleaner through it you will win. If by passages you are talking about the adjusting screws acessable from the front of the airbox. these are for idle. Turn them gently in till they just start to resist then out exactly 11/2 turns. Caution running and engine with one bad carb often causes major damge.
This seems to be quite an agressive site from time to time, don't let the english assessment put you off
Good Luck

"THIS is true but jerk doesn&#

"THIS is true but jerk doesn't. I'm a marine tech but again the ether was just 2 c if it would fire @ all & the practice is widely used even @ the marina i work @ ,& of course it will help u narrow fuel starvation problems quickly. if the engine turns over, has fire, good compression, & doesn't start. & a quick shot of ether just 2 here it fire & it does - what's that spell. jerk doesn't understand any of this. after the v/p test on the fuel pump, it proved 2 b good, even put it in it's twin & ran fine.going back 2 basics pulling out my old school books on understanding the outboard motor-fuel system operation ( carb type) refreshing , knowing that it IS in the carbs. atmospheric pressure @ 14.7 PSI is vented from the airhorn 2 the float chamber.w/ atmospheric pressure applied 2 the fuel& a low pressure area (vacume) applied @ ether the idle port or main nozzel, the fuel is forced 2 flow from the high-pressure area...it's not venting nor the other. the fuel comes in raises the floats shots off the incomming fuel & stays like that. I know what he did now . good technitions stumble over little things some times out techs does, we laugh & razz each other & life goes on but jerk wouldn't understand that."

"I found a genuine 85hp 92 suz

"I found a genuine 85hp 92 suzuki sm @ work 2 day. those carbs have a wide application 88-00. these carbs r unlike j/e & merc carbs i'm formiluar with, not 2 say there difficult. the main jet is set up differently but the principal of operation is the same. now that i have the schematic & carb spec settings I can know procede 2 rebuild these carbs properly as i have w/ j/e, merc without instance.
