" Now engine won't start. A friend told me that he had a friend who did this and when he finally got it started, he got out on the lake and the engine tore up. Can I clean carburators myself. It is a '98 Yamaha, 40 HP. Or do I need to take it to a shop. I can turn a wrench, rebuild car engine, used to be a jet engine mechanic in the service, but am really not a mechanic. Can perform simple tasks. Should I try it? "
