"i really need to move my fuel

"i really need to move my fuel tank forward. what is max length i could extend a 5/16 line on 6hp johnson and not get fuel pump issues from distance.

should primer bulb be on the o/b end or tank end of things?

with 2 trojans, the o/b, the minn kota and the fuel tank plus me something needs to go forward
unless i can find a 200# replacement fishing buddy. one that can be on time would be even better :D

thanks much, john"

The fuel line can be any lengt

The fuel line can be any length. It doesn't matter where you place the fuel primer bulb.

There are multiple factors that will come to play. How much lift, how soft the line, what diameter the line, and of course the pumps condition and type? A soft and long line will absorb more of the pump impulse and could cause problems....especially with a high lift and under full fuel demand. So if you run a long line to the front of the boat, the day is hot....with sunshine hitting the black line....it could be a different outcome compared to the same setup at 30° F. Why? The long line will be much softer in the hot sun, than in the cold weather....and pump pulses will be absorbed. If the bow is higher in elevation than the fuel pump, then it won't make any difference....it will create a siphon.

I say it can be any length, limited only by the boat length. Problems arise from leaks (air getting into the hose) or inefficient fuel pump. Bulb at motor end may cause many squeezes to get the air out of the line and start getting gas.
