Fuel Leak

Just bought a year old Merc 4 hp from a friend. Haven't used it yet but he tells me it leaks fuel. The fuel line connections seem tight and I don't detect any leaks in the fuel tank. So that leaves the fuel pump or the carb. Does anyone know of any inherent problems with these small engines? Does the carb float stick? Or the valve? Looking for a 'heads-up' before I start tearing things apart.

I'm thinking the same. I gassed up this morning (I should mention it's a 2 stroke), and took it for a run. But so far, no sign of a drip. Maybe it fixed itself!
