Fuel leak

I will obviously replace the defective part but will it cause air to be sucked into the system and cause the fuel pump to stop pulling fuel?
It is leaking around and below the RED plastic part, more like spewing when I first choke the motor.

That is the electric primer and it is not a pump.----------You simply need to install a new o-ring in there.------------This is all on the discharge side of the fuel pump and no air can be sucked in !!
