Right. Direction doesn't matter, but the problem with the coupling at the motor, may allow dirt to enter while towing down a gravel road. You should NEVER tow with the fuel line attached. The float may bounce, allowing fuel to enter. OMC steel fuel cans often have a failure in the auto venting valve and will build pressure. I like to cover the male coupling at the motor when towing. A small added filter under the cowling is often added security. The fuel pump screens can allow dust to get past and accumulate in certain areas of the fuel pump and carb. Most often, however, this fine dust may pass through without any problems. If you run your motors 3000 to 4000 hours like I do, it is always wise to think clean.
