Fuel Filter Replacement on a 2002 Merc 2 stroke 25HP

"Apparently the fuel filter bowl is a screw on but I am having trouble getting it to turn clockwise as I look at it from the bottom of the bowl. My questions are 1)does it turn clockwise; 2)I assume that you need a wrench to loosen it(square plastic on bottom of bowl)? Any thoughts on how to get the bowl off so I can put in a new filter?

"It's a b*tch, ain't it! It unscrews the usual way, but the O-ring likes to glue itself in place, along with everything else. (Some silicone grease an the assembly avoids all that.)

The best way I've gotten them apart is to use a couple of water pump pliers and caaaarefully try to turn it.
