I am in the process of replaceing the fill line on my starbord tank, won't go into the horror show for removing the old one but am now ready to replace it. the one that was on it was 1 1/2" id. As I said I had a hell of a time geting it off the tank, in part due to the wire that is part of the hose. Does anyone know if there is a hose that has a little more give in it that will allow me to install the new one without a battle? Is the wire a requirement? Thanks in advance for the help.

For those who have to remove these pain-in-the-*ss hoes with a wire running inside, here's a neat trick:

Slice open the rubber hose to expose the wire. Next, grab the end of the wire with Vise Grips and rip the wire out of the hose for a few inches. You can then slit open the end of the hose so can be easily removed.

Ayuh,... That wire not only stiffens the hose, it's a Bonding wire to control static electricity...

The wire is is for mechanical concerns only....many people use it for bonding but a separate wire is really the best solution.

Having gone thru similar predicaments, let me suggest that it is worth the effort to provide adequate openings to route the fill hose....it is a job you want done correctly, the first time, as mistakes here can be very costly...

Thanks guy's. Jeff when you say slice the hose I assume you mean the outter skin? Mark I have cut an access hole in the forward bulkhead so I can get at and see what I am doing.
