Fuel Economy Question

I am looking at getting either a 35' or a 38' Chris Craft Catalina for retirement and travel the inland water ways. Is there any way to improve the fuel consumption of these? In comparison, would a larger Chris with diesels actually get better economy? I would like to get some first hand info if possible. Thanks in advance!

I think diesels are a better overall value. Fuel is more expensive but they run forever compared to gas engines. 38' is a touch small for a live aboard in my opinion. Not to hijack the thread, but have you looked at Bluewater Yachts? They handle great in open water coastal cruising and are comfortable and spacious. Here is one that I saw recently. If I were retiring (if I ever get to!) this is what I would be living on. Someday...........!!

Good luck and enjoy the adventure!
