fuel connections 1969 AQ 130

I have a 1969 Coronet with 2 aq130c's.

I am not getting fuel to my engine. I put a different fuel pump on that I had on hand, still nothing. I took off the gas cap to see if it was the vent, but still nogo. If I disconnect the fuel line before the pump and blow into it I hear bubbles in the tank. But if I try to siphon from the line I don't get anything.

I have a new fuel filter on and its empty even after much cranking.

I have 1/2 a tank of gas, but the bow is up kind of high because I am on land.

Does anyone know how the pick up works on the gas tank. The pipe leading to the fuel filter is in the aft of the tank, which should be holding all the gas since the bow is up. But maybe thats not how it works.

I replaced the fuel line up to the filter also. I thought if it was clogged, blowing into it would show it or clear it.

Looking for ideas.

To make sure there is nothing wrong with the fuel pump, try running a fuel hose from a jerrycan full of gasoline to the pump suction and crank the engine. If gas flows through the suction hose, then I see three possibilities:

1) Either the fuel pick-up tube inside the tank or the fuel hose going from the filter to the pick-up line are broken, so the pump is just sucking air.

2) If there is an anti-syphon valve attached to the fuel tank pick-up line, it may be stuck.

3) The strainer at the bottom of the pick-up tube is gummed-up and clogged.

I will try the jerry can, unfortunately I put all my extra gas into the boat, so I have to pick up some more.

I am leaning toward #1, there is a short section of fuel hose from the t fitting in the tank to the filter on that side. I may just replace it anyway, it looks like of old and is only about 18 inches, not worth risking a problem later.
