Hi im working on my buddies boat that he just bought. I am an automotive tech, so im fairly knowledgable but boats are a different species.. It is a 2000 Reinell with a volvo penta (GM) 5.0 GI (PETS). The problem is it only runs for about 5 seconds and then shuts down. I checked fuel pressure and it has only about 5 psi. on the high and low pressure ports. This being a TBI unit I know they require about 25-35psi. According to the manual, you cant service these units, they have to be replaced as a whole (It is a whole fuel cell) This thing is like $800 bucks!! Is there anything im missing here, something else I should double check first or a cheaper way around. Also is there a way to short the DLC to flash out the codes in the ECM? I have a snap-on scanner with every type of plug imaginable but not one to fit this boat. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks
