Fuel - 1984 Evinrude 150

I had had this engine stored for 25 years and just fired it up to use again. At the time, OMC recommended high octane premium LEADED fuel. Leaded fuels are long since gone. Am attempting to determine a few things: 1.) Does running a higher octane, unleaded fuel alone create problems? 2.) Should I add a lead substitute? 3.) Is it worthwhile to burn non-ethanol fuel?

Given the circumstances, what is the best fuel for this older engine?

Appreciate your expertise, thanks!

87 octane fuel will be fine and no need for lead substitute. If you use the boat all the time you're likely fine using E10 fuel. My personal preference is non-ethanol fuel in all my watercraft to avoid moisture developing in the tanks.
