this is my first post hope I can find some help-I have a 1996 mariner magnum III 150 that needs a new impeller the problem is when I went to remove the Trim Tab bolt so I could expose the hidden lwr unit bolt, it is frozen, I cracked (3) 1/2in sockets 3/8th drive trying to remove the bolt also soaked it over night with PB blaster. If anyone has had this problem I am open for any suggestions. Thanks

Simply drill off the head and then buy a new trim tabif you have to.-----------------I do not see why that would be hard to do !!!

I thought the tab will melt if you use a $5 canister of MAP gas w/torch. Assemble the new parts w/a dab of marine never sieze.

That fact that it's a socket head bolt makes drilling the head off even easier! Use a 3/8 " drill and go at it. Easy, 2 minute job.

Not all all are socket head on the newer motors !!------------Drilling it, is to me the easiest and a painless way to go.

See, the torch is easier, melt it off.:D:D.Lol. I haven't melted a trim tab yet,but then I've only used heat on two.I used Butane. And I know there is little difference between propane and butane other than propane is better for external use, boils at -44F and,I have been told burns hotter than butane. But that's totally off topic.Do what these guys say, drill it:D

Thanks to all for all the Info. I heated up the Trim Tab today with a Propane torch and the bold came out with very little effort.
