From a newbie Lower unit question

Removed the bolt concealed beh

Removed the bolt concealed behind the trim tab?Do you have a gap between the two units?Disconnected the shift shaft?
Tight dowel pins? Use heat.
Frozen drive shaft connection?

"My guess is the shift shaft.

"My guess is the shift shaft. You have to remove the clip on the starboard side of the motor. Push in on the shift shaft to release it, then it will drop out. A manual is cheap enough and saves lots time and headaches, as well as this site for items not clear in manual"
