"Today while out in my 1986 bayliner with 1986 85hp force I had great forward speed with motor down all the way, so I raised it another notch and it ran even better, I shut it down and raised one more noth from very top and it started out fine the it felt like sombody reached over and pulled the throttle back at full forward I wasnt getting over 7 mph? do you think I may have raised motor to much? It was very windy and alot of chop as well, so I didnt get a chance to put motor back all the way down or up one notch, had fresh gas frsh plugs vent cap open. Idle fine start fine.

"jerry, yes sounds like the motor was to far up and water couldn't get to the prop. their is a term for that, i just can't think of it right now."

"Jerry, I think David is referring to "cavitation" - which sounds like the issue, particularly if you noticed that the rpm's seemed to be fine (or even a little higher than normal), but you just weren't moving forward very much....."
