four stroke 250 vs 200

i am repowering a dive boat it is 30 ft long and heavy it used to have a 150 2stroke it worked but could use more power i have heard the 250 yamaha is better than the 200 not just because of size but reliability and i will get better fuel economy because i will be abal to throtel back more thanks for the help

The F200, F225, and to a lessor extent the F250 have well known issues with leaky oil seals and exhaust corrosion. Don't expect any help from Yamaha if you aren't still under warranty when they occur. Personally I would be looking at the Zukes or the Hondas in that size range. This advice from someone who currently has a fleet of Yamahas, but won't be buying any more F series engines after our experiences with them.
 
hi ...I am working in UAE been 6yrs..during this time yamaha f250 is the best quality we have found. so you have to decide yourself.
 
where do you live? and what dealers are avail in you area its tough to get parts and electrical diagnostics pretty hard to with out the diagnostic software just a thought. Fuel ecomony on a 200 or 250 will probley be the same or better than that two stroke
what hp and transom weight is your boat rated for?

hi I`m working in UAE Abu dhabi and the one and only dealer is Al Yousuf Motors L.L.C. I`m a outboard motor mechanic and I don`t have any boat. What I suggest that fix the engine according to your length of the boat and transom.
