forward controls 1996 6 hp

I have a 1996 6 hp johnson sailmaster and i use it as kicker and backup .One of my friend told me i could put forward controls on it do not know where to start need part numbers and where to go to get them.I have had hard time finding any info any help would be great.

It is an adapter kit (engine) available.
Part no:
0436267 from any BRP/OMC dealer.
Go to shop.evinrude.com, look up the parts in 'Accessories 96'

I did order the part today from marine engine.I do have a old control with cable of a 1965 johnson 90 hp v4 do u think it will work with this setup thanks for the number

May work.
You may however have troubles finding replacement cables for that control as it uses the old type OMC cables.

I think that 65 control only has one cable----Likely work ok for " throttle " only.

that is true it is single cable with electric switch for electric gear box.I called my local marine recycle place they have dual lever control box they think might work.It is a lot cheaper then $300+cables i have to try thanks guy for the help hope it works
