forgot to vent tank

Forgot to vent tank on my 89 merc 25hp outboard. now have to choke hard to start and it doesn't troll well. did I screw up diaphragm in carb?

Probably not. Something else is wrong.

When was the carb rebuilt last? If not known i would start there and replace the fuel lines at the same time.

How old is the fuel hose? The liner may have collapsed internally.

Am having carb rebuilt and will get new fuel line. I've had the boat 5 years and never done that. Not venting the line is the second thing I will probably never do again. It just takes once. I have already got "not putting plug in" out of the way.
